Ultiracer for Brain Health

Cycling activity has proven benefits for brain health: exercising the spatial, balance, and movement aspects of cycling exercises the functions of the evolved brain.

Additionally, the effects of cycling on mental health and wellness are well-documented in literature and practice. Recent studies on older persons’ depression levels and brain activity levels in adolescents show that cycling positively influences executive function.

Case Study: Kyung Hee University Dept. Of Gerontology

  • Provided participants with an indoor cycling program and biometric tracking.

  • Participants filled out a CES-D (Depression Scale) questionnaire at the start and end of the study.

  • Average CES-D scores decreased from 8.30 to 3.40

  • Showed a statistically significant decrease in self-evaluated depression scores (t-3.13, p<0.05)

  • Showed that indoor cycling with Ultiracer can improve the overall health of older persons, both cardiovascular and mental.

Stanford Brain Research Exercise & Fitness Lab Study:

  • Participants (adolescents) were given memory tasks while and after indoor cycling and had their brain activity scanned with fNIRS.

  • Participants with ADHD showed an increase in activity in the frontoparietal attention circuit during and after exercise.

  • Cycling had a regulating effect on the prefrontal cortex activity for the ADHD group.

  • Both regular and ADHD groups achieved similar brain activity levels through cycling despite having different baselines.
