RealDesignTech has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea University Ansan Hospital for academic exchange and joint research. The signing ceremony took place on the 17th at the Libertas Lounge on the sixth floor of the hospital's Future Medicine Building.
Founded in 2018, RealDesignTech specializes in digital health and well-aging technology. With Ultiracer—a cognitive and balance training cycling system that recreates the sensation of outdoor riding indoors—the company earned an Innovation Award in the digital health category at CES 2024.
The ceremony was attended by Professor Kwon Do-young of the Department of Neurology, Professor Kim Jae-young of the Department of Convergence Medicine, and RealDesignTech CEO Lee Joong-sik, along with officials from both organizations, who together pledged close cooperation. In particular, Professor Kwon and RealDesignTech will carry out joint research aimed at the early diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and the discovery of digital biomarkers.
Through the agreement, the two organizations will begin personnel exchange and joint academic activities for convergence research. Their efforts will focus on joint research into digital health, well-aging technology, and digital therapeutics for cognitive disorders and for cardiac and spinal rehabilitation; information sharing through seminars, symposiums, invited lectures, and research presentations; personnel exchange to nurture convergence-research talent; and technical cooperation and joint research in areas of mutual interest.
Attending on behalf of Hospital Director Kwon Soon-young, Professor Kwon noted that Korea University Ansan Hospital is preparing research on the early diagnosis and rehabilitation of Parkinson's patients using RealDesignTech's indoor cycling system with its outdoor riding sensation, and expressed hope that cooperation across many fields will continue toward the development of digital therapeutic devices.
CEO Lee Joong-sik responded that he hopes the partnership will help develop a range of digital health solutions, digital therapeutics, and digital biomarkers in the fields of cognitive disorders and rehabilitation, and serve as an opportunity for K-digital health to become widely recognized around the world.
At RealDesignTech, we see this agreement as a meaningful starting point where clinical practice meets technology. When the hospital's clinical expertise is combined with our digital health technology, we believe new paths will open for more people to detect conditions early and reclaim a healthy daily life. We will continue to work closely with medical institutions and to pursue innovation that raises quality of life.
